HaraKano complete patch.

And just like that, Dekiru Translations has finished the remaining scenes of Harakano. The game is now 100% translated. Thank you so much to Dekiru for going through the hassle of translating the remaining scenes.

The complete translation patch is available here:

https://www.mediafire.com/?muy1s6yvv29j00l

Download and install it same as before, and enjoy the complete version of the game (if you're into that sort of thing).

Will update with Donovan's patch, if Donovan updates his patch. Apologies to Donovan for revising the HK patch so many times.

For more of Dekiru's works, check out the Dekiru Translation blog at https://dekirutranslations.wordpress.com/

Thanks all,

LQT

Update:Donovan has again graciously updated the UI patch he generously created. Now it contains UI translations, menu translations, the Hiyo patch Dekiru was kind enough to create, and the rest. You can download it here:

https://www.mediafire.com/?72z5oruq9jf8dmq

or from where Donovan has it uploaded, posted in the comments.

--IF YOU USE DONOVAN'S PATCH--

Make sure that you do not have any old version of the English patch installed. Before you move the patch files from Donovan's patch into your Harakano folder, make sure you delete/remove all the old patch files (the file named patch.xp3 and the folder named 'patch' and every file inside it) or the game will most likely crash on start up.

Thanks again to Donovan for supporting the Harakano translation project so much and doing so much to make it look as good as possible.

Thanks to Dekiru for finishing Hiyo's scenes entirely gratis, thus letting Harakano be listed as a full translation.

Thanks to M Imam Hadi for providing a temporary patch to the temporary patch.

And thank you, for caring enough to read this far and follow this project to the lengths it took.

Thanks all,

-LQT

  1. Is it supposed to get rid of the english UI from the previous full patch?

    4. Technically that would only change Hiyo's route dialogue, so the game would still use the Images from sysimg Folder as its default

This is basically just the combined version of Donovan's and this patch, so all the Credits still belong to them. When Donovan or Loe officially update their patch, I'll gladly delete mine.

    1. Ahh, your updated patch does work, and I thank you for making it, but it looks like you didn't include the fully translated sc_harlem.ks and sp_harlem.ks files when you updated the patch.xp3 file. Those need to included too, or else the Hiyo/Haruka scenes will be still untranslated.

    1. For the moment, yes, it's supposed to be that way.

This new complete patch doesn't have Donovan's fixes and graphic changes, so until I figure out how to update Donovan's patch with the final translation of the complete patch, it will have untranslated menus. My apologies.

In the meantime, I made this imgur guide for the Harakano menus:

  8. Download link wasn't working repost xD.

For those wondering on a lot of kirikiri games all you have to do to get them to work on any system locale that isn't Japanese such as English/Chinese/Russian you convert any text based files (doesn’t have to be all of them I just do most/all to be safe) that use Japanese filenames or Japanese code in the files from Shift-JIS to UTF-16LE Unicode. It's an easy way to expand the characters/letters you can use since Shift-JIS has limits. I think just doing that one step you can use most Chinese/Korean characters maybe Russian too not completely sure since you will be limited to what the game engine can use. This should be common knowledge but for some reason I don't see it talked about a lot :/.

    2. Repost of patch notes

      Patch notes for everyone.
-This game should work on any system locale with patch installed don't need to use Japanese system locale.
-I changed the font to MS PGothic from MS Gothic (which looked terrible) then edited the message window margins, line spacing. I did that so that the mini message window could fit more text and hopefully reduce splitting voiced lines.
-Word wrap was revised from what was being used previously.
-Patch has been condensed to the patch.xp3 file, 2 scenario files along with extras from Loe are still inside the Patch folder they're are used for the April fools parody (what to do to the files is explained by Loe in-game).

      WINDOWS 10 USERS:
I have noticed that Windows 10 doesn't come with MS Mincho/MS PMincho fonts which is needed for A LOT of VNs I included it with patch in-case you don't have it. It's needed for the backlog in HaraKano.

    3. Sorry; I should have contacted you about it, asking if you'd even want to make another new patch or not, but I didn't think to try and find out your contact information to get ahold of you. My bad, and my apologies. Also thank you (again) (and so much), for even bothering with all of this. I can't imagine it's the funnest thing to do in your free time.

It's no big only takes a few minutes to update patch, just have to change the encoding of the files then overwrite previous.

    5. Could you add this Loe there is a install instructions text file inside the archive but for some reason people aren't reading it.

Game should work with different system locals I've tested it in english, japanese, russian, spanish,
chinese (simplified), and vietnamese on both windows 7 and windows 10.
Don't use app locale it's not needed if you use the correct patch and your game might end up using the wrong fonts is you do use it.

      REVISION 7/20/2016
-Font check redone you can now switch between different system locales and the correct font will still be used before if you used Japanese locale the correct font would only be used on Japanese locale now you can switch between for example English and Japanese and it will now use the correct font on both of them.

      REVISION 8/6/2016
-Reworked wordwrap, reworked font check, adjusted peoples names to be more centered, adjusted message window margins, lines spacing and letter spacing. Should be easier to go from original patch to this one. Font changed from MS Gothic to MS PGothic reason is because the MS Gothic font looks terrible :/. The centering of names, adjustments to message window margins, line sapcing and letter spacing were done because of the change in font and also to allow more text to be displayed in the message window.

      REVISION 11/24/2016
-Updated patch to Final Patch that Loe Quality released 11/23/2016.
-Changed from 2 versions of patch to only 1 version to reduce confusion and make it easier for people to switch between the April fools parody edition and the original version.

All you got to do is completely remove the old patch.xp3, patch folder and patch2 folder (if you have it) then put the updated patch.xp3 and patch folder file in the game directory and then install the font included with this patch (It contains MS Mincho and MS PMincho fonts).
Lastly delete the data999.ksd and datasc.ksd files inside of your savedata folder this will reset your config settings and allow the game to use the correct font if it wasn't before don't worry you won't loss any game progress but you will loss your saves.
Also this patch comes with an optional 100% - CG recollection just take the file inside and put it inside your savedata folder.
The Walkthough included may not cover all the routes.

In regards to the 100% - CG recollection only having one file that is all you need. The other 2 files are for game config settings and what you have/haven't read/save locations.

    6. Also should mention that the game folder/file path shouldn't have any Japanese characters otherwise there might be issues where the PC can't locate files/folders. This is mostly for people who want to play without using Japanese system locale, avoid using applocale with this.

    7. Yo Donovan,

Sorry for contacting you on Christmas Eve Eve, and I hope it's not a bother, but someone found a problem with the Harakano patch. Looks like the translation of the first harem h-scene got deleted in its script file, and no one noticed until now.

I went through the script and edited back in/translated the missing part, but could you update and upload your complete patch again with the changes? I updated and edited a couple other of the scripts, too, so if you wouldn't mind, I figure it'd be better to just update everything.

The newest, latest version of the patch is available here if you don't mind updating/reuploading:

    3. Not knowing much about how Donovan's patch works,my best recommendation would be to remove the patch entirely and see if the game still opens and runs properly. If it does, redownload the patch from here: https://www.mediafire.com/?72z5oruq9jf8dmq (this is the version I tried out with my install of Harakano, and it worked), and apply it to the game like normal. Once applied, try launching the game again and see if it works or not. If it still doesn't work, try re-installing?

Worse case scenario, when/if you get to those scenes with Hiyo, you can remove Donovan's patch and just use my regular patch to play through those scenes. The menu won't be translated, but the scenes will be translated. Once done, remove my patch and re-apply Donovan's.

    6. I do not know quite how Donovan's patch works, but try the following:

Delete all the files/folders associated with the english patch (my files, Donovan's files, etc.).

Redownload the patch from my link above (https://www.mediafire.com/?72z5oruq9jf8dmq)

Once downloaded, extract all the files/folders from the .zip archive.

Once everything is extracted, open the folder named 'Final Patch Compressed' from the extracted archive.

Inside this folder will be a folder named 'patch' and a file named patch.xp3.

Copy (or move) both the 'patch' folder and the patch.xp3 file directly into the folder where Harakano is installed (the one with the .exe and .xp3 files and everything).

The patch folder should be there alongside the plugin folder and the savedata folder (if you already launched the game once). The patch.xp3 file should be in the main folder alongside the main Harakano .exe file, the .xp3 files, and etc.

Try launching the game. It should work.

If it doesn't work for whatever reason, close the game (make sure the .exe isn't running in the background), delete the savedata folder, then relaunch the .exe. It should work.

If it doesn't work, tell me what happens and we can go from there.

  11. @Loe I can confirm, at least for me, on clean install with Donovan's latest patch applied, window vanishes right when it's about to display text, whether you start from the beginning or from a save.

Windows 7, Japanese locale, secondary drive, fonts installed.

For now, at least until someone figures out a solution, I recommend those who play and experience this issue, have Hadi's patch installed, and after playing Hiyo's route and sometime before trying harem route, switch out the patch.xp3 and scenario.ks to the ones from Donovan's previous batch(rename the current ones by adding .bk or something at the end so you can switch back later if needed)(not sure if scenario.ks needs to be switched?).
From what I can tell while experimenting the above seems to work(haven't played the harem path yet but saves and all seem to work with the paths I have gone through).

On another note, two lines late at Ren's route remain untranslated(or Hadi's patch does not use the latest one?). In both cases it's the top line in a dialogue box. Just in case playing order plays any role here, it was Hiyo(first), Ren(second).

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. From what you describe regarding Ren's route, it's not that the line remains untranslated, it's that the second line IS the translation. Unless it's some other error I'm unfamiliar with, I probably forgot the necessary semi-colon at the start of the Japanese text to tell the game not to display that line and to display only the english line beneath it instead. Could you give me a better description of where the lines are? Ren's route has 15,067 lines, and I'm not sure how late in the route you mean.

    4. Looks like your computer might not have East Asian language support installed and/or not have East Asian region and format settings, which are required to run Japanese programs like Harakano (unless you use applocale, which I'm not sure how to do these days).

The process to computer settings is kinda annoying, but if you can, you should be able to to go into your computer's control panel and find the language and region settings.

In the language settings, you need to add Japanese language.

In the region settings, you need to change your format to Japanese (under the first tab) and change your system locale to Japanese (under the third tab). The computer will probably have to restart, but after that it should be able to run Harakano properly, and then you can apply the english patch.

To return your computer to its original settings, just go into region and change your format and locale back to whatever it was originally.

There is a way to run Japanese programs without doing all this (I think it's called applocale), but I don't know how to work it anymore. The last time I set up applocale, it was on Windows XP. I think they changed things since then. A google search might find something more helpful.

      Delete
    5. If you DO have East Asian Language support and have been able to run VNs before without changing your system settings, I'm not sure what the problem could be (especially if you can't even run the game un-patched, in its original Japanese). For the record, you do have it installed directly onto your hard drive, right? Swaneye games have been known to not always work when they're installed on external drives like usb thumbdrives or externals.

    6. I've been using an application called Locale emulator. I downloaded Maman Kyoushitsu and have run that using Locale emulator. For Hara Kano, I just have the game run and it works fine other than the saves. I'm thinking that maybe it would work if I could get the save folder that should be showing up but I don't know where I could get that from since most of the downloads for the game don't include it.

    7. There's a copy of it in Donovan's patch. It's in the '100% - CG recollection' folder.

    1. I'm going to guess that the problem is the game doesn't know where to create the savedata folder, or how to access it.

Harakano is programmed to create and access the savedata folder via a certain file path, which your computer cannot display properly because you don't have Japanese language support and/or Japanese system locale.

When you start Harakano for the first time, it creates the savedata folder automatically. Whenever you run Harakano or try to load/save a file, it accesses that folder and checks the files.

The problem you have is that, with your installation, the game cannot read the name of the folder its installed in. By default, Harakano is programmed to look for its normal folder, named in Japanese (and using the Japanese system settings, which displays file paths in a different way). Your computer can't display Japanese characters, so when you installed the game it just replaced the Japanese characters with random junk characters (the ones you see in the folder name where you have the game installed). You can't read those characters, and neither can the game when it tries to create or access the savedata folder. This is what the error is probably telling you.

How do get past this problem though? Uhh... You might have to set your computer to Japanese system locale first, but try this:

      Uninstall Harakano.
Reinstall Harakano, but this time when you're installing it and it asks you where to install the game, don't let it install to its default location.
Instead tell it to install the game into a different folder, one with an English name, like say Harakano. Basically, when the game asks you where to install the game, just delete all the characters after 'C:\Program Files (x86)\SwanEye' (or whatever it defaults to for your OS) and type in Harakano instead, so it will be 'C:\Program Files (x86)\SwanEye\Harakano' (or whatever file path).
Finish the installation as usual, and then try to run the game.

This might fix it, or I might be entirely wrong, though I'm pretty sure the problem has to do with your system locale and/or how your computer can't seem to display Japanese kanji

    1. You are correct. I just checked the files, and Dekiru's translation has cut out that entire first scene. I do not know if this was intentional or not, but without knowing how to modify Dekiru's patch, I cannot fix it.

In the meantime, to get 100% of the CG mode, you can use the savedata folder from Dekiru's patch, in the folder named "100% - CG recollection". Just open that folder, copy the folder named 'savedata' inside it, and paste the 'savedata' folder into your Harakano folder (overwrite the old file). Restart the game, and 100% of the CGs should be unlocked.

    2. For the time being, I restored the removed scene (and translated/edited it) in my patch, and emailed Dekiru about updating his complete patch. If you don't mind not having the UI and text look as nice, you can uninstall the Dekiru's full patch (just delete patch.xp3 and the patch folder from your Harakano folder), and install my complete patch from here:
