Brief Update

Update: Slow train coming down the line | 3 full, long scenes left in Emiko's route.

Currently working on Emiko's route, with roughly 8 scenes left to translate. Regarding the relationship between Kei and his mother, all I have to say is goodness, well that escalated quickly. I know Swaneye tends to ignore/gloss over blood relationships in their games, but seriously. Meanwhile, Harapara is still on hold while I focus on Emiko's route, if only because I think it'll feel it'll feel so awesome to finally have fully completed Mamankyoushitsu. It's nice and all, but man, I really want to have more time for less erotic works.

In regards to Heisei Era Inari War, I'm continuing with it at an entirely too slow of pace (though I don't feel there's many with too much demand for it). I do kinda wonder how other translation projects cope with scans so low quality you can't really read what the kanji in the speech bubbles are, however. Speaking of kitsune and kitsunemimi things, I would like to ask if there's anyone able/willing/interested in making a translation patch for Chorus's "Okitsune-sama no Koisuru Omajinai". Sarasarasasara could be cool, too. Though of course, it would be a long time before I could start on either.

In other other news, it has been a year since I started this translation blog! And in that time, it has gotten over 43,000 views! Man, if I had, like, fifty cents for each of those views, I could almost pay off college. Oh well. I'd post some thank you fan art or something, though I don't think people are too interested in my jawesome Open Canvas skills.

  1. Yeah your Open Canvas skills is sad..but what isn't sad is the great translations you have done! and How your are working on the Mother/Son route which I personally find very yummy. Glad you stuck around for a year and heres hoping you stick for a nother few.

  2. can't wait for Emiko's route, but what does that say about me as a person that the route i'm most looking forward to is a mother/son incest route?

    1. Spoilers is that I'm actually kinda sad they don't really seem to go in depth with it at all, at least, not yet. Like I said, Swaneye tends to gloss over the entire thing. Emiko's route is also the second shortest in the game (Momo's being the first; it's not even half the file size of Mimeri's, Saera's or Honoka's).

  3. Keep up the good work man. You are doing us losers who have no life a big favour :) haha. But seriously, You know what it means for us who know no Japanese that there's someone out there spending their own time translating a game that we are dying to play. Even though we may not directly bring you financial incentives (again, we are mostly losers...), do know that we are always grateful for what you've done. Once again, you have our thanks :)

  5. Is there still that bug where half the screen turns black if you don't delete that one windows update?

    1. Unfortunately yes. It seems, according to Swan's website, that their only solution is to delete the updates as well; no patches or game fixes at all.

In other news, I am still gradually doing more of Emiko's route, though am having to balance it with other things. As usual :V

  6. Wait so if the Mamankyoushitsu translation will be done after this... does that mean you've already done Momo's route? I thought that one was still WIP...

    1. Life is currently taking a higher priority. Translation wise, there are now like, 6 or seven scenes left. Progress :S

  9. Yay, 5 scenes left. :)
Any chance it's done before halloween?
As always thanks for the hard work.

I got this problem when playing the game using your patch. Can you tell me how to fix it ?

    1. Try deleting every file in the "Savedata" folder, then restart the game.

Also make sure that the patch was properly extracted into the Mamankyoushitsu folder, make sure your computer has the proper language settings, and (if you see an error with how the game displays event scenes) make sure you have uninstalled the windows security updates mentioned in this support page by Swaneye: http://www.swaneye.com/sup.html (second paragraph, all the KB updates listed for each OS. Apparently Swan games have a compatibility issue with some of those updates).

    2. The problem only occur when I tried using the latest patch.

The first patch that you released work just fine

    3. The original patch is the reason for the error.

The way Swan games work with the english patch (I guess) is that when you save the game, it records the scene you saved on exactly, all the characters, text, and background as they are according to the appropriate script file when you saved it. When you load a save, I guess it attempts to match the saved scene's data with the data in the script file. If it cannot find the same data (due to something in the script file changing, like Japanese text turning into Englsh text), it will not be able to load the text and the error will occur, and everything breaks. In the case of your screenshot, it looks like the text from line 42 of the scenario1.ks file has changed between the first patch and the latest one. The solution I have found is just to close the game, delete the contents of the 'Savedata' folder in the Mamankyoushitsu directory, then reopen the game begin again.

If this doesn't/didn't fix your problem, uninstall the game, reinstall the game (so that everything is in Japanese again) then download and install the latest translation patch only. I apologize, but whenever this occurs, there is no way to save your game progress. Fortunately, you can skip text via holding down CTRL in all Swan games.

    5. Thank you for your help. It seem the problem lied in me. I re downloaded the patch from dropbox and it work normally.

    6. Unfortunately, the latest patch always breaks the previous patches, which is the problem that you had. I always replace the previous patch with the latest version, so that why it all works now (after re-installing the game). Of course, this probably means that when I release the Emiko patch, you're probably going to have to do the same process all over again. My apologies.
